My Biggest Tatting Project – The Clover Doily

For the past month, I have only tatted one thing — The Clover Doily by Eileen Stafford. It’s been a labor of love, but it was definitely worth the effort. It was made using size 40 Lizbeth thread in Charcoal (grey), and Ocean Sunset (color, variegated).

I totally love it, and am definitely planning on working this pattern again, one day. Maybe even soon. It’s a great pattern for advanced beginners or new intermediate tatters.

Here’s a photo journey of the progress, and my month in tatting.

  1. Wow! This is very pretty! What will you do with the finished product? I’ve always wanted to give tatting a try. -Nizzy

  2. I’ve used it as decoration on an end table next to the couch. 🙂 If you do decided to learn how to tat, just remember to be patient with yourself and have fun. 🙂 Good luck.

  3. Wow
I really like the use of the different colored thread in making this. I am trying this pattern at the moment. I get messed up when it comes to making the clovers in the pattern. I am still pretty new to tatting. But I keep trying and eventually, I am sure that I will get it completed. But thank you for showing us the pattern step by step, that helps me out greatly, in how it should look.

  4. this is so very beautiful!! i taught myself to tat 2 months ago and i tried tackling this as soon after about 2 weeks of learning. i was good until Round 4, then there was copious foul language and matches involved, and then i swore off the pattern permanently. but seeing this, i’m wanting to go at it again! thank you for the inspiration!
